It's almost official -- Mondale to run

Paul Wellstone's sons have asked Walter Mondale to run for their late father's seat, almost ensuring Mondale will jump in the race.

No decision will be made until after Wellstone's Tuesday memorial service.

Republicans are already planning a campaign between "the past and the future". They have a small point there -- a younger candidate (like Alan Page) might've been the more exciting choice. However, Mondale is the sure thing the Dems need right now, and in any case the "I'm not old" campaign tactic is failing miserably in New Jersey.
