Golisano to drop out?

Rumos abound that Tom Golisano may drop out of the NY guv race and endorse Democratic candidate Carl McCall.

Problem is, Guv Pataki generally equalled or outpolled both of his opponents combined. And, Golisano drew equally from both of the major party candidates -- meaning McCall couldn't count on all of Golisano's supporters. Also, Golisano's name would remain on the ballot, since it's way too late to make any changes.

So, while this adds a bit of last-minute drama to the equation, it doesn't change the underlying fact: that Pataki should win reelection quite easily.
