Dems mount fight over Homeland bill

Senate Democrats are vowing to block the Homeland Security Bill unless Republicans strip several "special interest" provisions snuck into the bill.

The provisions includes a bill to create a "homeland security research center" at a major university -- a provision meant to benefit Texas A&M University (Gramm and DeLay's pet school). Also, the bill would shield pharmaceutical companies from lawsuits over vaccines -- a major boon to the GOP's Big Drug backers.
