Open Thread: 12/8

From the comments section of a previous post:

Tom Daschle on Wolf Blitzer's show said that he's got a press conference scheduled for tomorrow morning. He was coy about the reason, but he said that it had to do with yesterday's victory in LA, and some other big news relating to the Senate.

Anybody have any guesses on what the big announcement will be?

I didn't see this segment (I've been watching Fox try to spin away the Landrieu victory). But, speculate away.

I REALLY hope it's not the defections of one or two Republican Senators. I don't want Bush and Republicans to rant about a "stolen" Senate again and use the Senate as a foil for their own failures. Ideally, everyone stays put while Chaffee, Collins, Spectre, McCain, etc., vote with the Democrats to stop some of Bush's more heinous acts.
