Daschle names new Senate campaign team

Well, nothing important came out of Daschle's news conference. In essence, he announced the fact that big-spender Jon Corzine (NJ) will head the Dems Senate campaign efforts for 2004.

Given that the Campaign Finance Reform law bans soft dollars, the Democrats will have to depend far more on hard-money donations. Corzine, a former head of Goldman Sachs, should be able to help Democrats be more financially competitive.

But Dems don't need to match the GOP dollar for dollar -- so long as they broadcast a positive message and hammer Bush on his weaknesses.
