US/UK: 1441 is good enough
It's clear that the US and UK couldn't get more than a few votes. While 1441 did not include language authorizing force, those two countries will claim it's enough to go to war. So they won't follow through on Bush's promise to force a vote and face an embarrassing 4-11 or 5-10 vote.
The UN has ordered its inspectors out of Iraq. It's now just a matter of "when".
Bush will address the nation tonight at 8 p.m. EST.
Ari says "diplomacy has failed". The US never engaged in diplomacy aimed at averting war. Its "diplomacy" efforts were targeted at gaining world support for Bush's invasion, not peace. So he now gets his war, having damaged old alliances and international organizations and putting our troops at increased risk by failing to secure a second front in Turkey. Brilliant.Posted March 17, 2003 07:12 AM | Comments (184)
