President cuts, governors raise taxes

This is a great look at tax and licensing increases throughout the states.

(Mostly) GOP governors rode high in the 90s, riding the coattails of Clinton's Age of Prosperity and Surpluses. Bush subsequently erased surpluses in favor of record deficits as far as the eye can see, and now that he refuses to assist the states, it's a whole different ballgame.

Bush can cut, cut, cut taxes at the national level. All it's doing is forcing governors to raise, raise, raise at the local level. Tell me again how this stimulates the economy?
