Holy shit. Bush under 50 percent

Hold on to your seat -- check out Zogby's latest numbers (august numbers in parenthesis):

Bush Job Performance
Positive: 45 (52)
Negative: 54 (48)
This is the first time Zogby has tallied a majority of "negative" ratings since Bush took office. And as far as I know, this is the first poll to put Bush under the (psychologically) important 50 percent line.

Given the trend lines across most recent polls, it looks like the bottom is falling out of the Bush presidency.

Also, Zogby did a national poll of the Dem primary challengers:

Dean: 16 (17)
Kerry: 13 (9)
Lieberman: 12 (10)
Gephardt: 16 8 (11)
Zogby says none of the others candidates broke 3 percent.

Of course, Zogby's state-specific polls are more relevant than this national one, but it does provide good news for Kerry and Gephardt (oops, I misread the Gephardt numbers).
