Zogby polls Louisiana

The Louisiana governor's race appears to have come down to Blanco (D) and Jindal (R), with most other support split amonst three other Democrats.

Note that LA has an open primary. If no candidate gets 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote getters face off in a December special election. (No trend lines)

Blanco (D) 23
Jindal (R) 22
Ieyoub (D) 14
Leach (D) 9
Ewing (D) 8
Downer (R) 6
Blossman (R) 1
Other 17
Collectively, the Democratic candidates break the 50 percent mark, which should bode well for the runoff. Or if we get lucky, Ewing, Leach or Ieyoub will overtake Jindal for second place making the runoff election an all-Democratic affair (which should eliminate any inecessary drama).

The state house is currently held by a retiring Republican. Winning the election would mark a gain. And if we win all three of these southern governor elections, or 2/3 at worst, we can help fan the "Bush is beleaguered" meme.
