You called for change.
The ballots have been counted, and it's clear there is a post-election mandate for change throughout our country. And in January, it will be up to us to hold our leaders accountable.
Organizations like Change Congress, a non-partisan reform initiative started by technology visionary Lawrence Lessig, will be key in the fight to end political corruption. That's why we're partnering with them for our fourth Netroots Nation Salon. (Past salons have featured Sen. John Kerry, Van Jones and Markos Moulitsas.)
On December 17, please join us and Change Congress for an engaging discussion about putting the people back into the People's House.
Thank you to all who helped make our annual community auction a huge success! From our donors to our bidders to those who helped spread the word, each of you had a part in helping us have our most successful auction yet.
Because of you, we raised more than $23,000 to help fund the greening of our convention, our regional salon program and the ability to keep registration prices low (right now just $225).
If you bid on an item but didn't win, you can still support our fundraising effort by making a cash donation. Every dollar you donate goes to support our annual conference and our regional salons. Click here to donate.
We'd also like to thank all of our sponsors that helped us conduct the auction. Thanks go out to SEIU United Healthcare Workers, Democratic GAIN, Bullitics, Change to Win, Voter Vision, Go Left TV, New Leaders Council, Clothing of the American Mind, LEAP, and Sunlight Foundation.
Paul Krugman, the Princeton scholar, New York Times columnist (and Netroots Nation 2008 panelist!), was awarded the Nobel prize in economics for his analysis of how economies of scale can affect international trade patterns.
Krugman is the second Netroots Nation alumnus to win a Nobel--Al Gore was awarded the prestigious prize last year for his work on global warming.
A hearty Netroots pat on the back to Krugman for this honor!
We've just opened the room blocks at the two official convention hotels in Pittsburgh. That's right, two hotels. One isn't enough to contain everyone any longer.
You can book a room in either hotel for a special rate of $149 a night.
Book at the Westin Convention Center hotel, located at 1000 Penn Avenue through this special link or call 412-281-3700 and mention Netroots Nation when booking. The Westin is connected via sky bridge to the convention center.
Or, book at the Omni William Penn hotel, located at 530 William Penn Place through this special link or call 412-281-7100 and mention Netroots Nation when booking. The Omni is just a short walking distance from the convention center.
