Donors at Camp David

After all the bullshit we heard about Clinton and his guests in the Lincoln Bedroom, you'd think that the Bushies would at least make a slight effort to avoid hypocrisy.

But no, that's not the way Bush does things: Bush's top donors (those prolific enough to have earned the title "pioneer") have been enjoying overnight stays at Camp David. Of course, the spin is that these people have been invited as "family friends", not donors.

Right...

For the record, I see little problem with this practice, just as I didn't care about Clinton's guests in the Lincoln Bedroom. (At least so long as the guests aren't been transported to Camp David via helicopter at government expense.) But this is yet another example of how Republicans have a double standard.

For Clinton, inviting donors for overnight stays was an impeachable transgression. For Bush? Well, I'm sure the silence will be deafening.

(Thanks to reader John B. for bringing this to my attention.)
